Huat Heng Fried Hokkien Noodle

At first glance, the nondescript Ah Xia, in his white checkered shirt with short sleeves, partly dyed hair, looked just like one of the ordinary elderly uncles who sits at the kopitiams. But, he is not ordinary at all.

Mr Tan or Ah Xia started his relationship with the wok since schooling days when he would help his dad out after school, following him around to fry kway teow and carrot cake. Those were the days of hawking on the streets and he had to help push his dad’s mobile stall around. He then later moved to various other places like Whampoa, Eunos and Pasir Ris before coming to Toa Payoh.

With 50 odd years of experience in cooking Hokkien Mee, Ah Xia had perfected his dish through his years of perseverance in fine-tuning this traditional delicacy. In addition with his homemade sambal chilli atop the Hokkien Mee, it will definetly enhance your appeitite.
